Let's Rap About WRAP
Mary Ellen Copelands Wellness Recovery Action Plan trainers certification comes to Washington, D.C. Thats Right! Washington, DC is now the proud parent of twelve new Certified WRAP facilitators. The D.C. Department of Mental Health sponsored and granted full access to the new facilitators by providing training that included breakfast, lunch, transportation expenses and major support.
Two advanced level trainers from the Mary Ellen Copeland center in Vermont came to Washington, DC and conducted the eight day training at the Galludet University, Kellog Center. The training was fabulous! It was informative, humorous, energetic, and supportive.
THANKS D.C. DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
The Importance of being HONEST!
Remember that old saying "to thine ownself be true." That statement is so very true when creating your WRAP document. Know one will know if you are being misleading in your WRAP, but can you imagine telling everyone that during a crisis tickling you makes you feel better when it fact it makes to sick? Well, this may not be a great example of why we must be totally true to ourselves when writing our Wellness Recovery Action Plan, but you get the picture.
I can recall telling my sister to take control of my assets while I was in post-crisis when her and I was really getting along great. After the crisis was completely over, I discovered she had sqaundered my savings and mis-managed my monthly allotment. When she came to me and asked me how she did in her assistance to me, I lied for fear of being abandoned by the only family member that I had. This happened twice which meant I had to make a decision. Guess what? I did!
I educated myself and learned how to self-advocate to et the support I needed from other sources. Those sources included setting up an automatic payment plan to pay my bills, recognizing my early warning signs and telling my docter and establishing a line of credit at my neighborhood grocerjust to name a few.
